My internship at Spring Valley Country Club during
the summer of 2003 was one of the most enjoyable and educational
experiences that I have ever had. Under the mentorship of Chris
Williams, SVCC Superintendent, my educational experiences ranged from
managerial techniques of the Golf course, of the crew, and of oneself.
I was also given the chance to learn the day-to-day practices of
managing a golf course such as mowing, fertilizing, irrigation, and pest
control. I was also given the chance to experience the workings that
take place in the Golf Pro Shop and see and understand the
job that a
Golf Pro has. Spring Valley Country Club was a great place to do
an
internship and I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in a
private country club with bent grass greens in the Southern United
States.
