| The tests in this turfgrass research report were designed to: | |||
|
1. Gather information on potential weed and cultural management practices for sod producers, golf course superintendents, athletic field managers, commercial lawn care companies, the South Carolina Department of Transportation, and other turf-related businesses and professions. 2. Evaluate the effects of pre- and postemergence herbicides on winter annuals, summer annual and perennial grasses, and broadleaf weeds. 3. Evaluate tolerance of warm and cool season turfgrasses to grass and broadleaf herbicides. 4. Evaluate the effects of plant growth regulators on turf seedhead suppression, plant growth rates and weed control. 5. Collect data in support of label submissions. |
|||
| Replicated tests were established where specific problems existed and were located over much of the state. Tests were located on various golf courses, sod farms, and Clemson University research turfgrass plots. Many chemical companies provided financial support for these tests. | |||
| Complete descriptions of application method and other experimental details were provided with each experiment. Unless otherwise noted, all products in a particular treatment applied by the same method at the time were tank-mixed. | |||
| Weed control, turf injury, density, phytotoxicity and other data are presented as the treatment means across replications. For example, weed control and turf injury are both expressed on a 0-100 percent scale where 0 equals no control and 100 equals complete control. An analysis of variance has been performed on all teats and an LSD value of 0.05 is provided for treatment comparisons. | |||
| This publication contains information (or results) from use of pesticides, some of which are currently not covered by a registered label. Such results are included of informational purposed and should not be taken as recommendations for use. None of the experimental data may be published in any form without written consent from the authors. | |||
